Kids and adults alike will enjoy this family-friendly creek exploration near the headwaters of Santa Rosa Creek in Hood Mountain Regional Park - part of Creek Week!

We'll take a slow, kid-paced walk from the Los Alamos parking area down to the creek. We'll explore and talk about the plants and animals that call this place home. Kids will have a chance to wade in the shallow, slow moving water - so bring boots or water shoes! We'll take time to share a picnic lunch at creekside before heading back up to the parking area.

Creek Week is a week-long celebration of our local creeks.  Throughout the Russian River and Santa Rosa Creek areas, cities, counties and other stewardship organizations are coming together to declare September 15 - 22 as "Creek Week".  This will be a time of fun and adventure, with educational activities for everyone at your local creeks and nature areas.  All our creeks are a rich and diverse system which provides water supply, wildlife habitat, flood capacity, recreation, and aesthetic values to all who live in and visit them.   For more information on Creek Week events visit the City of Santa Rosa's webpage.
