The property features breathtaking coastal views from Wright Hill (1,190 feet), extensive wildlife habitat and a colorful history. This property is slated to open as a public park and will include possible future trail connections to the Coastal Trail and it will remain as part of Sonoma County’s coastal “agriculture belt” – with continued grazing. "My First Backpacking Trip" at Cooley Ranch

Description: Join us for "My First Backpacking Trip" at Cooley Ranch, located north of Lake Sonoma, is a 19,000 acre private ranch that has been protected by your Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation & Open Space District. We'll take an easy hike to our backcountry campsite - (route TBD, posted soon).  We will then have a chance to explore, enjoy a potluck dinner, take a night hike, and explore more in the morning before breaking camp about noon.  This trip is open to families and individuals.    More >>

Description: Grab your binoculars and join LandPaths and the Petaluma Wetlands Alliance in partnership with theSonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District for an all-access outing at Shollenberger and the Petaluma Marsh, geared towards all folks on foot and in wheels (balance bikes, strollers, walkers and wheelchairs). This outing is geared towards folks interested in taking a leisurely pace with many stops to enjoy the wildlife as we roll/walk around the wetlands. Docents from the Petaluma Wetlands Alliance (PWA) will guide us in finding and identifying the various birds that congregate to this “birding hotspot.” Binoculars will be available to borrow. We’ll tell the stories of the Petaluma Marsh throughout the past decades, as we see firsthand the importance of this biologically diverse ecosystem. Fitch Mountain Forever Fundraiser & Hike

Place: Fitch Mountain Preserve: Villa Entrance, 908 Chanticleer Way, Healdsburg, CA, 95448
Description:Fitch Mountain  ownership will transfer from Landpaths to the City of Healdsburg this November, 2017. Ceremonial signing over of the property will occur at this Nov 4th event. The event benefits the Fitch Mountain Fund -one of the largest public parks in northern Sonoma County. Local community members, led by State Senator Mike McGuire formed the Fitch Mountain Fund as part of an effort to create a long-term, sustainable funding source to help steward Fitch Mountain into the future. The goal is to raise $2 million over the next two years to help fund park enhancements and operations. This fund will assist as necessary in public investments in trail building, invasive plant removal, wildfire suppression and the development of scenic lookouts. More >>

TrekSonoma welcomes Sonoma County locals and friends to come trek with us through native prairie grasslands, old growth redwoods, lush riparian forests, and oak woodlands. Over 3 days you will walk from LandPaths’ Bohemia Ecological Preserve to Shell Beach, while we shuttle your gear and provide a kitchen for us to cook sumptuous family meals together. Nights will be spent around a campfire sharing stories, singing songs, and sleeping deeply to the autumnal chorus.   More >>
