Birding Ramble & Roll at the Petaluma Marsh

Description: Grab your binoculars and join LandPaths and the Petaluma Wetlands Alliance in partnership with theSonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District for an all-access outing at Shollenberger and the Petaluma Marsh, geared towards all folks on foot and in wheels (balance bikes, strollers, walkers and wheelchairs). This outing is geared towards folks interested in taking a leisurely pace with many stops to enjoy the wildlife as we roll/walk around the wetlands. Docents from the Petaluma Wetlands Alliance (PWA) will guide us in finding and identifying the various birds that congregate to this “birding hotspot.” Binoculars will be available to borrow. We’ll tell the stories of the Petaluma Marsh throughout the past decades, as we see firsthand the importance of this biologically diverse ecosystem. Fitch Mountain Forever Fundraiser & Hike

Place: Fitch Mountain Preserve: Villa Entrance, 908 Chanticleer Way, Healdsburg, CA, 95448
Description:Fitch Mountain  ownership will transfer from Landpaths to the City of Healdsburg this November, 2017. Ceremonial signing over of the property will occur at this Nov 4th event. The event benefits the Fitch Mountain Fund -one of the largest public parks in northern Sonoma County. Local community members, led by State Senator Mike McGuire formed the Fitch Mountain Fund as part of an effort to create a long-term, sustainable funding source to help steward Fitch Mountain into the future. The goal is to raise $2 million over the next two years to help fund park enhancements and operations. This fund will assist as necessary in public investments in trail building, invasive plant removal, wildfire suppression and the development of scenic lookouts. More >>
