Carrington Ranch

Carrington Ranch, a 330 acre gem on the Sonoma Coast, is home to amazing coastal grasslands and a piece of the California Coastal Trail, straddling Coleman Valley Road. The ranch's original homestead, consisting of house, shed and sheep barn, adds a historic flavor to this scenic beauty. Accessible via guided tours and as part of LandPaths' Volunteer Patrol, this property will be transferred to State Parks as an addition to Sonoma Coast State Park.

Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve

LandPaths, the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation & Open Space District and the City of Healdsburg celebrated the Grand Opening of the Healdsburg Ridge Open Space Preserve in November 2008. The Preserve consists of a wide variety of natural communities including wetlands and oak woodlands, rocky serpentine chaparral and open grasslands. These communities support animals such as deer, jackrabbit, bobcat, and mountain lion and more than 40 species of birds. Visitors are invited to explore the current trail network at the 155-acre Preserve and check out the spectacular vistas throughout the property. It is mostly easy to moderate hiking (2-3 miles, about 150 ft. elevation gain) taking in views of Fitch Mountain, the Russian River, and the Mayacama Mountains.

Ranchero Mark West

A walk beneath Ranchero Mark West?s towering Redwoods and Douglas-fir forest is inspiring, as is traversing the length of crystal-clear Mark West Creek with its steelhead and salmon at this future preserve just outside Santa Rosa. Visit the gazebo and pond, historic ranch house or the old barn and corral to see where stage coach passengers once stopped to square dance. By doing this you get a glimpse of both Sonoma?s history where people-and-land were intertwined as well as how this land can be part of a bright future for our region. This future can be realized for school children and visitors for generations to come with the creation of the publicly-accessible Ranchero Mark West Nature Center.
