JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE:                           Volunteer Coordinator

CLASSIFICATION:              Part-Time, Non-Exempt

WORK HOURS:                  20 hours per week; Occasional Weekend and Evening Hours Required

SALARY:                               $16 - $19 per hour

REPORTS TO:                     Finance and Human Resources Director

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

LandPaths seeks a Volunteer Coordinator who is a self-motivated, energetic, and creative individual who excels in a fast- paced, dynamic work environment.  This new position will be the communication hub for all LandPaths’ volunteers.  The position will coordinate volunteers across programs, including conducting and supporting outreach, creating a welcoming and friendly environment, supporting and thanking volunteers, encouraging volunteers to provide feedback to improve LandPaths’ Volunteer Program, and to continue volunteering.  The Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with Program Directors to assess volunteer needs, roles and trainings. 

LandPaths cultivates a fun, dynamic work environment.  LandPaths’ participatory management structure depends on teamwork and full participation. LandPaths is a Sonoma County-based nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering a love of the land through public access, stewardship and environmental education programs. LandPaths’ staff and volunteers work with public agencies, community groups, individuals and other nonprofits in order to accomplish this mission. LandPaths includes 15 staff and 8 board members. 

JOB DUTIES:  Implement newly designed volunteer program, including;

  • Coordinate LandPaths’ Volunteer Team for increased efficiency and collaboration across programs
  • Identify and prioritize outreach opportunities for recruiting volunteers
  • Conduct screening, interview, and orientation of volunteers  
  • Maintain a friendly and welcoming environment for volunteers
  • Ensure volunteers know what is expected and complete all necessary paperwork
  • Assist Program Directors and other staff in creating meaningful volunteer experiences
  • Coordinate record keeping/data tracking of volunteer hours and impact across organization (NeonCRM database, files, forms, etc.)
  • Assist in articulating the value of volunteers for LandPaths’ communications
  • Coordinate volunteer recognition—events, gifts, perks and other potential ways to support and encourage volunteer retention

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with volunteers
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish
  • Bi-cultural or cross cultural experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A “people person,” able to communicate well with a broad spectrum of personalities and backgrounds
  • Computer savvy with experience tracking information in a CRM database
  • Desire for collaborative team centered work environment, while able to work independently
  • Ability to focus and thrive in a busy work environment
  • Interest in, and enthusiasm for, LandPaths’ mission
