Bayer Farm Neighborhood Park & Gardens

Bayer Farm is located at 1550 West Ave in Santa Rosa (across from Sheppard School).

Bayer Neighborhood Park and Gardens is a unique collaboration between Santa Rosa Recreation & Parks and LandPaths. It is a 6-acre urban farm & city park-in-the-making in the heart of the Roseland neighborhood, 1 mile from Downtown Santa Rosa, with old barns, community gardens, and other agricultural aspects that are a joyful relief from the urban environment!
Sit beneath the walnut tree as the kids explore the garden or ride their bikes. Stroll on the walking paths and pause to admire the uninterrupted view of Taylor Mountain. Visit the goats or admire the gardens, ever-changing with the seasons.  You can even lend a hand in the garden during our Community Volunteer Hours and take home fresh produce!

 

Bayer Farm Workday- March 23. 2013 - 9-12 noon (No need to register)

Our Bayer Farm work Day is fast approaching. We need your help to help weed and keep the community areas so Fresh and so Clean! Perfect for those who need to complete community service, want to learn about gardening, or are just looking for a healthy outdoor activity.  Bring a snack to share or ingredients to cook up a communal lunch afterwards!

In the past month, Bayer Farm has become an extension of the classroom for 18 groups of students from he Roseland School District.  The students have demonstrated incredible skills as they sing and dance while they fill the ground with cover crop. It appears that their songs and enthusiasm have helped their seeds begin to germinate and the students will know have the opportunity to see their seeds grow through the winter on their way to school or on a visit to the farm with their parents.

We would like to thank the teachers from Sheppard Accelerated, Roseland and Roseland Creek Elementary schools who brought their students to Bayer Farm and shared with us at LandPaths, their contagious enthusiasm of being outside.

Great partnerships happening at Bayer Farm!

 

  • Throughout the summer, Tzu Chi provided workshops to families at Bayer Farm on healthy cooking. Due to popular demand, they continue to come and share recipes with participants.

We would like to thank the wonderful volunteers from Redwood Credit Union and Amy's Kitchen for their amazing work at Bayer Farm through the United Way's "Day of Caring" on September 12th, 2012. 

Thanks to these organizations, the Bayer Farm community thrives with their support!

Wednesdays 4-8pm - Regular Community Volunteer Hours:

  • Fridays 5-9pm

  • Third Saturday of every month 9am-12noon

During the Community Volunteer Hours, you can help the garden by pitching in on our projects!  Open to the public.  Children are welcome to volunteer also, or play in the natural play areas.  Bikes, kites, and ball-playing are welcomed and there is a walking path as well as a few picnic tables. 

A visit to Bayer Farm is a great family activity, a fun place to meet new people, or perfect for youth who need community service hours!
