The community gardeners at Bayer Farm stand at the heart of our mission to foster a love of the land in Sonoma County. In addition to maintaining their own plots, the gardeners volunteer 50 hours a year on other activities around the farm.

Once a week, they pick produce from the teaching area of the garden, maintained by volunteers and Bilingual Garden Specialist Jonathan Bravo, which is then placed in the farm stand for offer to the public by donation. The main benefit, aside from belonging and joy, is healthy, organic produce for the neighborhood!

The harvesters track amounts on a scale, and track information about the dates, pounds of food distributed, and donations collected. The reports are sent back to LandPaths on a weekly basis.

In 2020, the harvesters provide produce for the farm stand on Wednesdays from 9 to 11am. All Covid-19 distancing protocols are being followed, with mandatory masks and social distancing between non-family members.

We welcome your interest in joining the community gardeners! If you would like to get involved, please contact Omar Gallardo at [email protected]
