Discover a Love for Reading and Nature

iRead Outside/YoLeo Afuera

Reading aloud is the most important thing you can do to get your child ready for kindergarten. Time in nature has been shown to improve focus, wellbeing, and happiness. With iRead Outside, we’ve combined the two!

On a typical iRead Outside outing, we’ll read bilingual nature-themed books in a garden, farm, or park setting, study bugs and insects, do arts and crafts, sing, and have plenty of time to play in nature!

iRead Outside is geared towards children 5 years and younger. Older youth are encouraged to attend and act as reading mentors.

iRead Outside emphasizes a love for reading,  promotes a sense of wonder in nature, and supports you as you help your child understand stories and develop language skills through books about nature.

iREAD Outside live
Early Childhood Literacy for ages 0-6
Location: Facebook Live at Vamos Afuera Con LandPaths

iREAD Outside is an early childhood literacy program that usually happens during the summer out of Bayer Farm. Due to the social distancing best practices, we have decided to go live with Bilingual Story Time through Facebook!

This Friday, we will begin by reading a bilingual story live and post a link to a book reading that can be viewed at any time; in case you miss the live reading. The books that will be read live and recording might be a little different but they will both be fun! We hope that you can tune in!

Facebook Live Dates: May 15, May 22, May 29

Donate Books

We are in need of new or lightly used children’s books to redistribute during every reading session to make sure every child has books at home.
