Bilingual Education Field Specialist
Carlos Rivas Diaz
Carlos Rivas (he/him/his) joined LandPaths’ youth initiative in October of 2020 as a Bilingual Education Field Specialist. His job is to bridge Sonoma County youth to the nature that can be found all around them. He is part of a hard working and caring team dedicated to eliminating barriers by leading equitable outdoor educational adventures.
He received a Bachelor of Arts in Chicano/Latino Studies at Sonoma State University in Spring 2021. In the coming years, he will be finishing his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Civil Engineering specializing in Wastewater Treatment. As a Mexican-American immigrant and a first-generation college student, he is ecstatic to be serving his communities in the capacities provided through an organization that is so well aligned with his inner callings.
His pursuits have continuously gravitated him towards working with youth for many years. He finds being charged with a large group of children as revitalizing for the soul, even beyond that of what coffee can do for the mind, and that’s saying a lot because the guy sure loves his dark roast. When he becomes an old man (coffee pumping strong through his veins) and is serving as a “cool” JC Professor cherished by all his math students, he hopes to look back and tell students how LandPaths helped save the world.
